I have been making art using a method call Intarsia, In-tar-see-ah, since 1997 and in Decatur since moving here in 2016. Intarsia originated in Italy in the 1400's and is inlay of materials. The material I us is wood. I use exotic wood from all over the globe. The colors are the natural colors of the wood. I use no stains or dyes. Each individual piece in the work receives three coats of finish and is buffed between each coat. Our goal is to make a beautiful work of art that last a life time and longer.

I started doing Intarsia in 1997. I was looking for an activity to keep me busy after retirement. By the time I retired in 2000 I had developed my skill to the point that I was being asked to do commission work as well as the pieces I was making day to day. Art is an enjoyable challenge and to me "painting" with wood work makes it a truly uniquely enjoyable on. The pieces that I make can take anywhere from a week to 6 weeks,. I've been asked what is my favorite type or genre to make and I have to say it's the project that I'm working on at the moment.
My studio is located in my home in Decatur, IN. I display my work at The HIVE 118 N 2nd St as well as 40.8 Gallery 236 N 2nd St Decatur, IN. Last year I successfully started showing my work at regional art festivals. This year I will be showing in 6 festivals from mid May through mid October. I'll also be using this on line store to offer my work.
